The Leica Elmar-M 50mm f/2.8 is a compact standard prime lens for Leica M-mount cameras. Its collapsible design lets the lens barrel slide back into the camera body when not in use, making it one of the most pocketable 50mm lenses ever made. It delivers the sharp, contrasty rendering and classic character Leica glass is known for.

The 50mm focal length is a great choice for street photography, portraits, and everyday shooting, and the f/2.8 aperture keeps the lens small and light without giving up image quality. It’s a perfect match for a travel setup when you want to keep your kit minimal.

It’s compatible with Leica M film bodies like the M2, M3, M4, M6, and MP. If you’re mounting it on a digital M, avoid collapsing the lens, since it can contact the sensor or shutter.
